Lucy

Founder: Equihandee

Meet Lucy, the founder of Equihandee and animal lover extraordinaire. Lucy is a mother to Matilda, who was the inspiration behind her business, and is married to Rich, who has embraced her love for animals and now happily helps with the daily chores.

She has three horses, Ellie, Winnie, and Percy, as well as four dogs, Wilma, Maggi, Margo and Betty. Her mornings are spent at the barn feeding and caring for her animals, and they take priority over everything else in her life.

But her story isn’t just about her love for animals, she also has a disability that she has been dealing with for the last four years. This illness has changed her life, and she is unable to do many of the things she used to love, like long walks and riding. Riding was once her passion, but now she is unable to do it as much as she used to.

Despite this setback, she found a way to turn her passion into a business. She started Equihandee in 2015 and for the first four years, she worked full-time for someone else to finance her business without getting into debt. In the last three years, she has been able to focus on her business and work hard to help as many people as she can.

Her business goals are to help and support as many young and disabled riders as possible, as she believes the benefits of being around and riding horses are enormous. She has friends with children who have disabilities, and she has seen first-hand the positive changes that come from spending time with her horses.

The Equihandee business came about as a result of a personal issue she had and the solution, she created to help herself and others. The creation of the Equihandee Core Support, a simple yet effective product that gives core support to riders with disabilities, allowing them to sit up in the saddle like any able-bodied rider, is her greatest achievement.

Sir Lee Pearson is an inspiration to her as he has achieved so much despite his disability. She met him at “Your Horse Live once” and was inspired by his positive attitude and accomplishments.

For Lucy, business success is defined by the stories she hears from people who have bought her products. These positive reviews and feedback make her day and are the driving force behind her continued efforts in her business. Her story is one of perseverance, determination, and the ability to turn a passion into a successful business. She has faced challenges but has not let them stop her from achieving her goals and making a positive impact on the lives of others.
